Plain words on what the app keeps about you and why.

Who we are

Guitar Efficiency is the member app for Zach Adkins's guitar community. "We" in this policy means Zach Adkins and the people who help run the app. You can reach us at admin@adkinsenterprisesllc.com.

This policy says what information the app keeps about you, why, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect

Your account:

  • Your email address and name, which come from your Skool membership when you join or renew.
  • Sign-in codes we email you. There is no password.

What you do in the app, saved under your account:

  • Your level, focus, GE Score, rank and the history of your scans.
  • Quiz answers and scores, ear training and chord quiz results, Path drill results, streaks, points and awards.
  • Practice sessions you log, including any note you type.
  • Weekly check-in answers and your daily plan.
  • Tabs and notes you write in the app.
  • Your chats with Star, the coach.

Technical information our hosting provider records for every request, such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. It is used to run the site and keep it safe.

The microphone

The Tuner asks for your microphone so it can hear the string you play. The sound is analyzed on your device to find the pitch. It is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. No other part of the app uses the microphone.

Star, the coach

When you talk to Star, your message and a short summary of your progress (level, scores, what you have been practicing) are sent to Anthropic, the company whose model writes Star's replies. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms, which do not allow using it to train models. Your chats are saved so you can read them again, and so Star remembers what you worked on.

Please do not type things into Star that you would not want stored, such as payment details or someone else's personal information.

Cookies and your device

The app uses two cookies, both needed for it to work: one keeps you signed in, and one remembers which week we last reminded you to post in Skool. There are no advertising cookies and no third party analytics.

Settings you choose, such as how the guitar looks, which pages sit in your bottom bar, playback speed and whether sounds are on, are saved on your own device and never leave it.

Who else sees your information

We do not sell your information. These companies process it so the app can run:

  • Supabase: the database and the sign-in system.
  • Vercel: hosts the app.
  • Anthropic: writes Star's replies, as described above.
  • Skool: holds your membership and billing. We never see your card number.
  • Our automation and email providers, which connect Skool to the app and send your sign-in codes.

We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect the app and its members from abuse.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and everything in it while your membership is active, so your progress is there when you come back. If you want it gone, delete your account yourself under Settings, Account (everything goes at once), or email us and we do it within 30 days. Copies in backups are removed on the backup schedule after that.

Your choices

Email us at any time to:

  • See a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Correct something that is wrong.
  • Delete your account (or do it yourself under Settings, Account).
  • Ask a question about this policy.

If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with privacy rights, those rights apply here too. We keep your information because you asked for the membership and to run the app well, and we respond to requests within 30 days.

Children

The app is for members of the community and is not made for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from a child under 13. If you think a child has an account, email us and we will remove it.

Security

Everything travels over an encrypted connection. Your data is stored in a database where each member can only read their own rows. There are no passwords to leak: you sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, so keep that inbox safe.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes. If a change matters to you, such as a new company that processes your data, we email members about it.
